What causes intimate hyperpigmentation?
Intimate hyperpigmentation refers to the darkening of the skin in areas such as the genital-perianal region, inner thighs, and groin, caused by an overproduction of melanin.
Several factors contribute to this condition. Age related, biological molecular changes in the vaginal tissue can lead to increased pigmentation over time.
Genetics also play a role, with individuals who have higher Fitzpatrick skin types (IV, V, and VI) being more prone to hyperpigmentation in these areas.
Hormonal fluctuations, particularly elevated oestrogen levels, can stimulate the tyrosinase enzyme, which is directly involved in melanin production.
Additionally, common beauty practices such as shaving or waxing can cause repeated abrasion or folliculitis, leading to inflammation and subsequent darkening of the skin. Clothing choices may also contribute—tight-fitting underwear or trousers can create friction in areas like the inner thighs, prompting the skin to thicken and darken as a natural protective response.

Glass Skin
Whether you want to rejuvenate the skin or your regular month maintenance, Microneedling is ideal for that glass skin look.
Did you know?
From your mid-20s onward, your skin loses about 1% of its collagen each year. This gradual decline contributes to fine lines, loss of firmness, and changes in texture over time. The good news? Treatments like microneedling can help stimulate collagen production and maintain the health of the skin.

Types of Microneedling we offer...
- 01
Medical Microneedling
Microneedling is an advanced, medical-grade treatment that uses an electronic pen device to create controlled micro-channels in both the epidermis and dermis. During the procedure, skin-specific treatment solutions are needled directly into the skin, allowing for deeper penetration of active ingredients and enhanced results.
This not only boosts collagen and elastin production but also allows the treatment to be fully tailored to your individual skin concerns—whether that’s acne scarring, pigmentation, fine lines, or overall skin rejuvenation.

Superficial Microneedling
While the procedure for medical Microneedling is the same with superficial Microneedling, we don't go as deep into the dermis layer of the skin. As we work mainly on the top layers of the epidermis, this allows us to use more advanced topical solutions to fight specific skin concerns, whether that's pigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles, or sun damage.
